Back at Work and Glad For it!

I’m back to work after the holidays – it’s only Wednesday and already I’ve put in over 50 hours building and fixing sites. Great year so far working with an old client, a new client and my day job.

Finally back to work after the holidays – I don’t know what happened over Christmas but I had plans, BIG PLANS, and all I did was play with my kids and watch movies.

Damn it was nice.

So while I haven’t been writing I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, and questions loom large in my head as I start the year fresh. What’s my business strategy, who’s my business target, will the site ideas I have prove viable?

I spent a lot of holiday time wondering too about my Webhosting Shootout. I had a valid reason for this project when I started, but really, I’m very devoted to someone who gives me good service, and CartikaHosting gives me service above and beyond any host I’ve ever had. It will be hard indeed to recommend someone over Cartika when they’ve really earned my business.

I’ve got a nice monthly spend with Cartika at my day job, so monetarily I’m giving them good business. My Webhosting Shootout compares consumer shared hosting – it’s only $20 per month and. they won’t miss it if I choose to use another host for this site. But I don’t know if I’ll feel all that good about it.And if 100 people are influenced to go with the winner of this little contest then that’s some real cash they won’t see.

So I have bias and guilt, that’s what I’m saying here. It’s almost like breaking up with a girl to date her friend even though I know it’s wrong.

That’s how I am, really, I stick by people and products that take care of me.

Anyways, I’m back on that topic as it’s time to show some very revealing monitoring results. Guess who can’t keep a server up for 5 straight hours? Unbelievable….

I’ll upgrade the 3 Webhosting Shootout sites to WordPress 2.9 and then immediately 2.,91 and discuss that too.

And then I swap themes for a blinding fast theme and find out who really is the fastest host.

So stick with me here – good stuff is coming up. Meanwhile I’m buried migrating blogs from Typepad to WordPress by day  and rescuing a very cool site by night. I’ll talk about that project next week.
