Keep Ugg Comment Spam Off Your Blog!
There are online stores selling UGG products, probably counterfeit. They either pay the spammers or they allow affiliates to do the spamming. Either, the UGG corporation needs to get a handle on it.
UGG comment spam is an absolute pain in the ass. It’s very easy to eliminate 99.7% of it from your WordPress blog by using the three WordPress plugins I list below.
But there may be more to the story than just comment spam. UGG appears to be an easily counterfeited brand. I have personally seen and reviewed thousands of individual UGG comment spam entries, and they mostly try to link over to online stores.
So be proactive. The UGG Australia company, which is apparently owned by the Deckers Outdoor Corporation, has anti-counterfeiting information that you need to be aware of.
The Deckers Outdoor Company management team needs to get off their asses and start blocking these couterfeiters. Their contact info is here:

Arm yourself with Akismet, Bad Behavior and WP-SpamFree and manage your comment settings. And keep these losers out of your sites!
I debated whether to show the site URLs or not – you should see them so you know that spam sites don’t have URLs that scream SCAM, but don’t visit the sites, they may sell counterfeit products, they may even try to drop spyware on your computers.

Stopping ugg comment spam in Wordpress is easy. Just add the phrase "Ugg" to your blacklist or moderation list. Better, use a plugin such as NospamNX that deletes blacklisted spam automatically, that way you'll never see it. Along with that, it doesn't hurt to block China, Nigeria and Brazil and perhaps a few other notorious spammer countries from even seeing your blog. See blockacountry.com for that.

thanks spamfighter, you’re right of course. I’m always overly cautious with blacklisting but it’s definitely the most effective approach.
